Welcome to Renfrew Park Community Centre’s 60th Anniversary Celebration!

Join us for a memorable day as we celebrate six decades of community, connection, and growth at Renfrew Park Community Centre. This special event is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey and contributed to making our community stronger and more vibrant. As we honor our rich history and the bonds we’ve built, we also look forward with excitement to the future, envisioning even more opportunities for growth, connection, and community building in the years to come.

Indoor Activities

Starts at 11am Welcome and Opening Ceremony We are honoured to invite xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Elder Martin Sparrow to give and Indigenous Welcome
11am-4pm Kid’s Zone in Gymnasium Join the fun in the Kid’s Zone at the Renfrew Park Community Centre’s gymnasium! This vibrant area will feature a large bounce house, face painting, balloon twisting, and more. It’s the perfect place for kids to enjoy a day full of excitement and creativity. Bring the whole family for activities that will keep the little ones entertained all day long!
11am-4pm Community Booths in Gymnasium Explore the community booths in our gymnasium! Local organizations will be showcasing their services and initiatives, offering a great opportunity to connect, learn, and engage with the diverse groups that make our community vibrant. Be sure to stop by and see what they have to offer!

TBA Community Showcase Performance in Room 110
 Join us for a special Community Showcase, highlighting the incredible talents of our local performers, many of whom are participants in our own Renfrew Park Community Centre programs. From dance and music to unique acts, this showcase is a celebration of talents within our community. Come and cheer on your neighbors as they take the stage!
11am-4pm History Room Check out our tribute to the rich 60-year legacy of the Renfrew Park Community Centre. Established in 1964, the Centre has been a cornerstone of community life in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. Explore exhibits highlighting the Centre’s evolution, community impact, and the vibrant activities that have shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.

Outdoor Activities

11am-4pm Car Show – Outside in parking lot between Renfrew Park and the Renfrew Branch Library! Check out the car show in the parking lot between Renfrew Park and the Renfrew Branch Library! From sleek rides to beautifully restored automobiles, car enthusiasts and casual visitors alike will enjoy this showcase of automotive history. Don’t miss the chance to admire these incredible vehicles up close.

Wading Pool for Kids

 

Wading Pool – Doggy Swim

*This activity is dependent upon weather

The wading pool at Renfrew Park will be open from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM during our 60th Anniversary event. It’s a great spot for families to cool off and enjoy the day.

For the final hour, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the pool will be reserved for dogs to have a splash and cool down. Bring your furry friends for some fun in the water!

Starts at 12:30pm until supplies last Free Hotdog Lunch BBQ Join us for a free hot dog lunch starting at 1 PM, right outside the front entrance plaza of Renfrew Park Community Centre! We’ll be serving up hot dogs until supplies last—come early and enjoy a tasty bite while enjoying festivities.
12:45pm Gather to meet

1:00pm -2:00pm Walk

Nature Walk Bingo by Science for Everyone Enjoy an interpretive nature walk through the woods led by naturalist/ecologist Dr. Veronica Wahl. Together we will learn about the plants and animals that inhabit Still Creek and its surrounding forest, and that share the Renfrew Park Community Centre’s grounds with us. Ask questions, make observations, and check off boxes on your bingo card. Get a bingo and win a small prize.

Still Moon Arts Society will be joining our 60th Anniversary celebration with some exciting activities! While all of our event activities are free, please note that Still Moon Arts is organizing their own workshops, one of which has a small fee. We encourage everyone to participate in their offerings and help support their creative work!

  • Renfrew Ravine Nature & History Tour with Carmen Rosen – FREE
    • Renfrew Ravine Park | Meet at Yin Yang Mosaic Bench at the corner of Renfrew St at Boyd Division – 3941 Boyd Diversion #3925 Vancouver, BC V5R
    • 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM PDT
  • Salmon Lantern Workshop with Yoko Tomita – $12
    • Time: This is a 45-minute workshop with three time slots available: 11:00 – 11:45 AM, 12:00 – 12:45 PM, or 1:00 – 1:45 PM.
    • Still Moon Arts sometimes charges a fee to cover some of the cost of running our non-profit initiatives. However, they believe that financial constraints should not prevent anyone from joining their programs. Therefore, they provide a limited number of tickets on a sliding scale for those who cannot afford the full price. To apply for a sliding-scale ticket, kindly get in touch with Alayna at alayna@stillmoonarts.ca.

Getting There

  • The closest bus stop is NB Boyd Diversion @ E 22 Ave.
  • There is free parking at the Community Centre. Entrance to parking lot is accessed on Renfrew St. Limited street parking is also available.
  • We recommend walking, taking the bus, riding your bike, or carpooling when possible.

Accessibility

  • Renfrew Park Community Centre is an indoor space located on E 22nd Ave, featuring ample seating and an elevator for accessibility.
  • For wheelchair access, please use the east entrance or cross the upper bridge from the west parking lot to enter the Centre.
